Dear All,
An article
by Rahul Jena et al (Published Online on 17th June) interested me
and felt that this should be brought to light by placing it in Uroacademy.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8247657/pdf/fsurg-08-687636.pdf
Jena and his
coauthors have highlighted the need for a uniform nomenclature to be employed
by all. They reviewed existing literature and guidelines and have
attempted to provide a few suggestions toward a uniform nomenclature for the
various anatomical descriptions and the extent of PLND done while doing a
radical cystectomy. They have suggested that where ever possible an extended
PLND be performed. They further opined that Super-extended PLND appears to have
no survival benefit over extended PLND and its use should be decided on a case-to-case
basis. They further mentioned that PLND
should be deemed adequate if an anatomical template is followed and thorough
dissection is done rather than relying on the number of harvested lymph nodes
or the lymph node density.
I wonder why such an article of considerable value did not
find a place in IJU. Could be it was not sent to IJU presuming that the work
needed more visibility. But as far as Indian readers are concerned, the Journal
in which this article is published is not frequented.
Another aspect that could be of importance is the fact that
much space in IJU is provided for articles sent for publication from outside
India. These articles do give weightage to our Journal but due to paucity of
space, many articles sent for publication of Indian origin are politely turned
down. I wish and pray that IJU will make it possible for Articles of Indian
origin to find a place. This will help more to publish in IJU rather than
looking outwards for publications.
With warm Regards,
Venu
