Internet and its reliability of Information as Regards P Ca

Dear All,

I am providing an article addressing ‘P Ca Information on Internet: fact or Fiction’ by Yusuf Moolla*, Nathan Lawrentschuk et al (2019). It is an article worth reading. Google is searched most often with well over 3 Billion searches made on any day. A study by Dickerson et al (2011) observed that 75% of people who go on-line seek health information and also that 75% in a health crisis use the internet to aid in decision-making.

The use of Internet has grown exponentially worldwide and in a recent report of International Union of Telecommunication (2016) found that just fewer than 3.5 Billion individuals use Internet world wide. With this rapid expansion of use of Internet and volumes of information available, it has become the largest source of Information available.

You Tube Videos form an important source of Information but on many occasions it is found biased. Likewise using Apps on mobile is yet another source of information but it still needs stringent validation.

The article provided addresses these aspects on the utility of Internet concerning P Ca.

The authors concluded stating that as regards P Ca is concerned ‘showed that overall quality was observed to be accurate, however majority of individual websites are unreliable as a source of information by itself for patients’.

Hence how much Information that we glean through Internet will have to be accepted is still a question mark.

With warm regards,

Venu
